Becoming Burlesque

Ever gone to a burlesque show and thought to yourself, "I want to do that?". Well here is your chance to make your showgirl dreams come true. Our burlsque classes, based out of East Vancouver, are taught by internationally recognized burlesque performer, Melody Mangler. 'Becoming Burlesque' is a two month intensive workshop series that culminates in a final Graduation Recital. This class covers everything one need to know to get their start as burlesque performer including: dance and movement; comedy; hair, makeup and costuming; lighting, sound and tech; and professionalism.  This is a great course for anyone who wants to get involved in performing burlesque in a comfortable, friendly, supportive environment. Classes are held weekly (day depends on the session) from 7:30pm-10pm, with the first half of class spent learning a skill and the second half applying that skill towards the building of the graduation show.

 

Your tuition includes a fabulous, hand tailored burlesque outfit including pasties made by Melody Mangler, glamour photos, and bonus personal studio time with one of our fabulous instructors to workshop your solo burlesque act.

Being Burlesque 201

Still craving that classroom atmosphere and want to get the extra edge when booking and preparing for gigs? Being Burlesque 201 is the much anticipated second chapter to the helpful and successful Becoming Burlesque! Our intermediate class is designed for students who have graduated from the Becoming Burlesque class or who have some limited experience performing Burlesque for a live audience and would like to learn and perform more. This class focuses on a few advanced aspects of Burlesque such as character, costuming and self promotion as taught by Melody Mangler and April O'Peel. Each class will be held at the world famous Chicken Coop, home of the Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society.

  • ONLINE PRESENCE AND MARKETING

  • TEXTURING YOUR CHOREOGRAPHY WITH THE LABAN MOVEMENT ANALYSIS

  • CLEAN UP YOUR ACT 

  • ADVANCED COSTUMING
